LONGMEADOW DEMOCRATS TO HOST DEMOCRAT OF THE YEAR EVENT IN HONOR OF SENATOR JAKE OLIVEIRA

LONGMEADOW, MASSACHUSETTS, March 19, 2024—On Sunday, May 5, 2024, the Longmeadow Democratic Town Committee will host its annual Democrat of the Year Breakfast at Twin Hills Country Club honoring Senator Jake Oliveira as its 2024 recipient. Senator Oliveira proudly serves the residents of the Hampden, Hampshire & Worcester District, which includes Ludlow, Belchertown, Granby, Palmer, Warren, Hampden, South Hadley, Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, parts of Springfield, parts of Chicopee, and Wilbraham.

While in the House, Jake served as a member of the Human Resources and Employee Engagement Committee, the Steering, Policy, and Scheduling Committee, Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities Joint Committee and Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Joint Committee. He has sponsored a diverse and comprehensive set of bills.

"I've known Senator Oliviera for a long time and he epitomizes what the Democrat of the year award is all about. I'm proud to serve with him and happy for his well deserved recognition."

State Rep. Brian M. Ashe, 2nd Hampden District

We are especially appreciative of Senator Oliveira’s mission to help provide children in crisis with the resources they need to thrive in school and in life. To that end, the senator has introduced legislation that includes a “bill of rights” for children in foster care with provisions for safety and security, access to healthy food, and appropriate health care. In his own words, “As a legislator, it’s my duty to provide a safety net for those who cannot protect themselves.”

Elected officials and Democratic leaders from local, state, and national regions are expected to attend this year’s time-honored Longmeadow Democrats Town Committee event.
