Caucus to Elect Delegates to the Democratic State Convention

Longmeadow Democratic Town Committee to Elect Delegates to Democratic State Convention

Longmeadow - The Longmeadow Democratic Town Committee will hold a caucus to elect delegates and alternates to the upcoming Democratic State Convention in Springfield. The caucus will take place Wednesday May 15th at 6:30pm in the Longmeadow Adult Center Dining Room located at Greenwood Park, 231 Maple Road, Longmeadow, MA 01106

Registration will open at 6:00pm and will close at 6:30pm. Those wishing to participate must be in line no later than 6:45pm. Individuals must be present to vote. 

This year’s state convention will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, where thousands of Democrats from across the Commonwealth will come together to vote on the future direction of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. 

The caucus is open to all registered and pre-registered Democrats in Longmeadow. New this year, pre-registered voters who will have turned 16 by May 11th are eligible to run and be elected as a delegate. Additionally, the Massachusetts Democratic State Party is committed to ensuring that all delegates are able to attend our Convention, regardless of financial standing. Students, seniors, and persons with disabilities are eligible for a reduced rate of $50, and any delegate in need is encouraged to apply for a fee waiver.

Longmeadow can elect nine delegates and 4 alternates to the convention. Delegates will be divided equally between men and women, with one open delegate to be elected. 

Youth, minorities, people with disabilities, and LGBTQ individuals who are not elected as a delegate or alternate ay apply to be an add-on delegate at the caucus or at www.massdems.org

March LDTC Meeting: The Green New Deal

MARCH MEETING: The Green New Deal


Our March meeting will special guest, Melissa Olesen, Regional Director for Central and Western Massachusetts for United States Senator, Edward J. Markey.

Melissa will provide the LDTC membership with a briefing of the Green New Deal Legislation, formally introduced by Senator Markey and Representative Ocasio-Cortez in February.

Following her presentation, Melissa will participate in a group discussion about how the Longmeadow Democrats can support Senator Markey as he works to pass this important, job creating legislation.
